Mike & Michelle Dean’s 1968 Traveller.

‘Imogen’ was built over the winter of 2008/09 to Michelle’s own spec, which included custom coloured comfy Newton interior, type-9 five-speed box and nippy 1360 engine, all wrapped up in pretty modern paint and set off with 15″ alloys. Lovely stuff! In 2010 it set a new record for events attended in a single season, and by 2013 had completed four Minors On Tour trips to France and got up to a total of 45,000 miles. Along the way have been over fifty trophies including 1st place Modified at National level.

Unfortunately that’s where the story goes a bit tits up. The car is currently off the road while a legal fight grinds its way through, but a replacement for the broken engine is already purchased and a painter chosen to remedy the damage, so it will be back on the show circuit next season better than ever. As before, it attends rallies all over the UK so look out for it at a show in 2015.

Bruce Kelsey’s 1959 clipper blue tourer.

Purchased in 1988 from a back garden just outside Newark. It was saved from falling apart by the addition of square section ‘chassis legs’ from the rear of the cross member. Originally Pearl Grey, the car is a 1959 model and was first registered in Birmingham in April 1959. After purchase, car went on MOT 1988 -1990 before I took it off the road for complete rebuild. Family and ‘life’ intervened and rebuild was not completed until 2013. Now Clipper Blue, the car participated in MOT 2013 and travelled to Switzerland and Italy until a small electrical problem curtailed our trip – but that’s another story!

Brian & Lorraine Samways 1953 SII saloon.

The car was bought as a present from my wife after I showed her a Minor I thought I would buy and restore. A 2 door split screen with 28,000 genuine miles was certainly a much better proposition; instead of work we got to enjoy ourselves. Since 1999 we have undertaken the MSA Millennium Classic which included the Millbrook proving ground high speed bowl and hill climb, Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, Melbourne Loop, Brooklands, Lord Mayor of London’s Parade which coincided with the car’s birthday, several Tour of Linc’s Rallies, Sherwood Restoration Runs, Viking 50th Rallies, 2 MOT trips to France and a hell of a lot of MMOC Nationals and Revesbys.

Soon she will be heading for a new life in France.

Matt Dean’s 1995 Mini Cooper.

Matt hankers after a modified pickup, but insurance prices mean he’s stuck in a ‘standard’ car for a few more years yet. In the meantime he loves his 1995 Rover Mini Cooper. Initially built for the Japanese market, Matt’s car has the air-con that was standard for that market, and benefits from the tiny mileages covered over there – when re-imported to the UK in 2006, the car had only completed 6,000km (under 4,000 miles) from new.

Since returning home, a further 27,000km have been added (it’s still running on a km mileometer) bringing it up to a grand total of around 21,000 miles. As you’d expect with that mileage it’s in fine order pretty much everywhere, but Matt is planning to repaint some of the car this winter because the Japanese sun has faded the BRG paint. Following in his dad’s footsteps, he’s already started pot-hunting with it!

Will and Caroline Dixon’s 1954 GPO van.

This is our 1954 S11 rubber wing GPO van, bought in 2005 from the estate of Mr Clatworthy who first drove the vehicle from new as a telephone engineer for the GPO, he then bought it by tender when it was taken out of service, we have all the paperwork from the purchase included in the full history showing the Tender purchase price was £35.10.0d in 1965 !!

Its first outing in our ownership (after some restoration work) was in The 100 years of motoring parade in London in 2006 and has since attended the 60th anniversary of the Morris minor at Beaulieu motor museum, the NEC international classic car show and The Lord Mayors show in the City of London, with its 803cc engine its a steady ride so if its going somewhere alongside Oliver our 1275cc convertible he usually has a head start!

Fendyke Garage’s 1966 van.

This is Frank, 1966 van, bought in 2005 when he was what can only be described as “Barbie” pnk with purple tinted windows, an interesting combination which as he was intended to be a “works” van had to go!, he was gradually restored over several years and now has a 1275cc engine & disc brake conversion and is used on a regular basis.
