Number 41 Haven’t done one of these for years – a fabulous parade through the town centre on a three mile crawl to the showground. Following a couple of marching bands meant that the pace was literally 2mph and early on the lovely Police mini got a bit warm and pulled out, quickly followed by [...]
Nifty Fifty!
The NiftyFifty Challenge
Number 42
Word has reached me that an un-named person enjoyed the hospitality of the MMOC area co-ordinator and partook of the ample variety of alcholic beverages on offer on the night before this event. Unfortunately it seems he partook so amply that come the ‘park up and natter’ at Beverley this despicable chap climbed into the back of a handily parked lorry and grabbed 40 winks, and then proceeded to sleep through most of the event at Filey too. At this point I would like to say that I find these actions absolutely deplorable. And I promise not to do it again…
P.S. Don’t blame me for the lousier than normal pictures – I was struggling to focus my damn head, let alone a camera.
40 – Transport Extravaganza Crich Tramway Musuem – August 30Number 40 I was initially disappointed to be directed to the upper car park on arrival – last time I’d been to Crich we’d been parked on the main street itself. An hour or so later I could see why though, with an absolutely huge turnout of classics dominating the car park, and the organisers [...] |

39 – Lincs Louth Motor Club Skegness – August 29Number 39 Eighty per cent of the way to our target 50 events now, and I’m starting to flag a bit. Poor weather with random showers throughout the day, but that didn’t deter a healthy 35 plus cars from showing up and sharing the limelight with the brass band in the bandstand. Being literally a [...] |
38 – Classic and Custom Bike and Scooter Show – August 28Number 38 Obviously the owners of the Blue Bell Inn are into their bikes and have similarly minded friends, because despite the gloomy forecast a large number of bikes showed up throughout the day, mixed in with a dozen or so classic motors. Among the bikes were a couple of fascinating trikes and a superbly [...] |
36 – Oxon and Berks Branch Rally – August 22Number 36 Up painfully early – before 6am – to go here, took about three and a half hours. Worth every minute though, because we had an absolutely fantastic day in aid of Help 4 Heroes. The barbeque was South African inspired, with offerings such as springbok or kangaroo burgers and wild boar sausages. Several [...] |

35 – Mini and Retro Rides Show Manby – August 21Number 35 Only heard about this last minute, but it’s only a short 25 mile hop up to Manby from me so went and put up a presence. Apparently there’d been a party the previous night so it took a good while for many people to struggle out of the tent city behind the main [...] |
34 – Rogers Barbeque – August 16Number 34 Many thanks for the invite to the Branch Barbeque in Ilkeston. Bad start to the evening as someone in front of me spat up a stone that shattered my third windscreen in a year. Sigh, I’m getting bored with replacing screens now. Still, what a fantastic evening – probably thirty plus people showed [...] |
